Marc Panucci, a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers in its national professional services group, has been named Deputy Chief Accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission.  Panucci, who previously worked at the SEC from 2007 to 2010, will replace outgoing deputy chief accountant Brian T. Croteau, who announced in July that he would be leaving. Panucci will lead the professional practices group at the Office of the Chief Accountant, as well as assist with oversight of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. When he begins his new position he will be working with Wesley R. Bricker, who is serving as acting chief accountant while James Kroeker, the chief accountant, recovers from a bike accident.

“I am honored for this opportunity,” said Mr. Panucci. “As someone who has previously served in the professional practice group, I have seen the talent and dedication of the group’s staff in addressing internal control over financial reporting, independence, and audit issues related to investor protection, and I look forward to continuing to build on the group’s many successes.”
