PricewaterhouseCoopers has added two outside directors to its board, an unusual move for any U.S. Big Four accounting firm, according to the Wall Street Journal. They are Carol Pottenger, a retired U.S. Navy vice admiral who was one of the first women selected for sea duty, and Carlos Gutierrez, a former Kellogg Co. chief executive who served as commerce secretary under President George W. Bush. PwC said their addition, which had been in the works for months, was made to bring outside perspectives and avoid group think. The new board members will begin their tenure July 1. The firm expects to add a third external director sometime in the future, said the Journal.
