The New York State Society of CPAs Nominating Committee is now accepting submissions of interest and direct nominations to fill leadership vacancies on the NYSSCPA Board of Directors whose terms begin June 1, 2017. Nominations are due by Jan. 2, 2017.

Open positions for 2017-18 are:

-President-elect, which means serving a one-year term and then automatically becoming President for an additional one-year term;
-Vice President, which carries a one-year term;
-Secretary/Treasurer, who serves two consecutive one-year terms; and
-At-Large Directors each serve a three-year term.

In addition, the Nominating Committee will accept nominations for five Chapter Representative Board positions from the following chapters:
-Staten Island
Please contact the respective chapter president to express interest in these chapter Board positions. Their contact information is available on the chapter's webpage, a listing of which can be found at nysscpa.org/membership/chapters.

There are several requirements, to be eligible to serve as a NYSSCPA Board member. To serve in these positions, per the Society's bylaws, one must: be a CPA member of the NYSSCPA for five continuous years; and have at least two years of service either on a statewide committee, a chapter executive board, or a combination of both.

Before submitting the name of a member for nomination, please confirm that the candidate is willing and able to serve. Please also submit a biography or resume for the candidate and an email or letter indicating why that person should serve on the Board as a Society officer. Members are permitted to nominate themselves.

Please email Board nominations and suggestions to the Society's Nominating Committee, in advance of the Jan. 2 deadline, to nominations@nysscpa.org. The Nominating Committee will meet Jan. 12, 2017 to review all submissions of interest, deliberate and interview potential candidates to serve on the Board. The Committee will then develop a slate of candidates to be presented to the membership at large via a proxy ballot in the Spring 2017.
