KPMG will be decamping to new U.S. headquarters, consolidating its workforce from three Manhattan buildings and reducing its current footprint by two fifths in the process, Crain’s New York Business reported.
The firm plans to move to occupy 12 floors of a 58-story tower in Brookfield’s Manhattan West development, which is currently rising on the far West Side and is due to be completed in 2025. The total square footage of the new space will be 450,000, compared with the 800,000 that the firm currently occupies at 345 Park Ave., its current headquarters; 560 Lexington Ave.; and 1350 Sixth Ave. The firm plans to leave all three buildings, according to Bloomberg.
The new offices will house more than 5,500 employees. The firm now operates on a hybrid schedule, and it plans to hire more employees while accommodating them all in the new space.
Crain’s called the deal “a coup de grace for the city’s office market,” which is currently 17 percent.
