New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, beset by numerous credible claims of sexual harassment for which he faces possible criminal charges, has announced he will resign from office in 14 days, NBC reported. The move comes shortly after the release of a damning report by New York Attorney General Leticia James, finding that the governor sexually harassed several current and former state employees, which led to numerous calls for him to step down, as well as a fast-moving impeachment inquiry in the Assembly.

Cuomo said that, in light of present circumstances, the best way he can help right now is to step aside and let Albany focus on other issues. However, despite what the report said, he still insists that he did nothing wrong.

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, will serve the rest of his term. She will be New York's first female governor.
