Bill Nye, popularly known as a science guy, has filed a lawsuit against Disney, which said he owed the company almost $500,000 due to an overpayment error. Nye, suspicious of the financial statements, said this dispute is the result of accounting shenanigans that have denied him millions of dollars in profits from his hit TV show, according to Accounting Today. Nye said in his suit that he had been trying to get an audit of Disney's financial information for years, but the company always said that it was tied up with other audits and that when an audit finally did begin the company continued to withhold documents, and so is skeptical that this accounting error actually exists.

Indeed, he said that Disney is the one who owes him money. Nye's suit said that Disney claimed costs of $20 million for his show against $26 million in gross revenues. However, he said, many of the show's costs were underwritten by the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy. Because of this, Nye said that Disney should have paid him an additional $28 million.
