While the business environment has experienced rapid changes in technologies and processes over the past decade, the accounting profession has had to adapt to remain relevant. Changes to current practice necessitate changes to how the next generation prepares to enter the profession. This preparation starts in academia, when future CPAs are still students, deciding on a major, fulfilling their requirements, and studying for the exam. It also extends to attracting the best and brightest into the field and ensuring there are enough young professionals in the pipeline to fulfill the demands of the marketplace in the coming years.
