Getting the United States to Embrace IFRS: An Interview with David Tweedie, IASB Chairman
Sir David Tweedie has served as chairman of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) since 2001 and has been heavily involved in the effort to get countries around the world onto one set of accounting standards, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). His tenure at the IASB is slated to end in June 2011. He was previously chairman of the U.K. Accounting Standards Board, technical director of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, and a technical partner at Thomson McLintock & Co and KPMG Peat Marwick McLintock. He is qualified as a Scottish Chartered Accountant and is a visiting professor in the Management School at Edinburgh University.
