Socially Responsible Accounting
A Call for Reform in the Profession
As CPAs in New York are celebrating the first significant reform of the state's accounting law in many years, it is refreshing to note the extremely high level of public trust that CPAs still enjoy. Protecting the public interest is, after all, one of our profession's core values. As the AICPA notes on the cover of its 2007–2008 Annual Report, CPAs are “characterized by commitment to objectivity, integrity and competence; [and] excellent performance on behalf of clients, employers and the public.”
