In BriefFollowing the IESBA's adoption of a new standard for dealing with noncompliance with laws and regulations during an engagement or employment, the AICPA is preparing to follow suit with a proposed modification to the Code of Professional Conduct. The authors explain both the IESBA standard and the AICPA proposal, which largely follows the international framework but with significant differences. Several case studies provide examples of what CPAs should disclose and whom they should communicate with under different circumstances.
