Mary-Jo Kranacher
In January 2011, James R. Doty was appointed chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board by SEC Chair Mary L. Schapiro. The PCAOB was created by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) to oversee audits of public companies and protect the interests of investors. Before joining the PCAOB, Doty was a partner at Baker Botts LLP, representing clients in the area of securities law, and successfully defending the PCAOB last year in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case—Free Enterprise Fund v. PCAOB—that challenged its constitutionality.
