The August 2011 CPA Journal included a challenge by Editor-in-Chief Mary-Jo Kranacher for CPAs to take advantage of a historic opportunity to help shape the audit reporting process of the future (“The Audit Reporting Challenge: An Opportunity for Fundamental Change”). She was referring to the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board's (PCAOB) issuance of Release 2011-003, which discusses possible significant expansions in the information included in the audit report. The authors have accepted her invitation to comment—not to the PCAOB, but to our fellow professionals.
