Ian Mackintosh was appointed chairman of the United Kingdom's Accounting Standards Board (ASB) in August 2004. He has been involved in standards setting for more than 20 years, having chaired the Australian Public Sector Accounting Standards Board and the IFAC Public Sector Committee, as well as serving as deputy chairman of the Australian Accounting Standards Board. Previously, Mackintosh worked at the World Bank and served as chief accountant of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. His experience in public accounting includes a partnership at Coopers & Lybrand from 1976 until 1996. Mackintosh is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, a fellow of CPA Australia, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Finance and Public Accountancy. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Canberra and a fellow of that university.
