Daniel Mazzola authored a provocative piece on why small investors should not overreact to the sensational book Flash Boys about high frequency trading (Daniel Mazzola, “Michael Lewis's Disservice to Wary Stock Market Investors,” The CPA Journal, September 2014). Mazzola correctly points out that the stock market remains one of the most effective ways for small investors to participate in the benefits of a strong economy in the long run, and he correctly criticizes some of Lewis's hyperbolic comments regarding the stock market, particularly, “the icon of global capitalism was a fraud.”
