A survey of 1,418 adults has found that many people are perceiving an increase in rude and obnoxious behavior everywhere in life with one exception: work, according to Fortune. The poll, run by public relations firm Weber Shandwick and KRC Research, found 93 percent of people believe uncivil behavior is on the rise, with 69 percent saying this spike is a major problem. The poll also asked people to say how many rude or obnoxious behaviors they experience per week, which this year was 10.6, much higher than the 6.2 that was reported two years ago.

Work, however, seems to be the exception. Over the years, people have actually been reporting fewer rude incidents. In 2011, 43 percent of workers reported having personally experienced incidents of incivility at work. In contrast, this year's poll found that number to have declined to 29 percent. Fortune said that this could be because, in general, it's risky to be too rude at work, but it could also be a general shift in attitudes from business leaders who are increasingly encouraging cooperation and collaboration, processes that generally require at least a baseline of civility.
