It’s not uncommon for bosses to suffer from anxiety—after all, they have a lot on their plates. But when bosses are overly anxious, it can affect everyone’s productivity. So what’s the best way to deal with it? Here are some tips according to Fortune:

  • Minimize uncertainty: Anxiety sufferers can get bogged down in the minute details of what’s going wrong or focus on worst-case scenarios. So point out positives that are rooted in reality.
  • Plan safeguards: Meet with the team to come up with ways to address or prevent problems that may be triggering your boss’s anxiety, so you’re prepared the next time those issues arise.
  • Consider that it might not be work-related: Oftentimes, anxiety surfaces when an unrelated source of stress is affecting someone’s life, like a divorce or an illness. So keep in mind that it may have nothing to do with the office.
