Excited stafferBetween IQ and attitude, it’s the latter that is a better predictor of success, according to Forbes. So what traits are precursors to success? Based on a study done by psychologist Carol Dweck of Stanford University, traits that indicate a “growth mindset,” – wherein failure is taken as information to solve a problem, rather than a sign that a task is too difficult to accomplish – are the ones to adopt.

Don’t give up. Just because you failed at a task your first, second, or even third time, that doesn’t mean you should give up and assume it’s hopeless.

Be passionate. A good attitude includes passion for what you’re doing, and passion surpasses natural talent as a driver of excellence.

Act, and go the extra mile. Don’t let fear and anxiety stop you from trying again in the face of initial failure. Take failure as a lesson and an opportunity to excel.

Keep your goal in mind. Always be aware of what you’re aiming for to keep yourself motivated. Picture yourself succeeding. After all, if you don’t think you will, then why even try?
