Chapter activities are in full swing

By Mark R. Cuccia
Nassau Chapter President

As I sit here writing this, I can’t believe how fast the summer has flown by! Kids are now heading back to school, and we accountants are gearing up for our second “busy season,” with the Sept. 15 and Oct. 15 deadlines fast approaching. I wish everyone good luck in getting through the fall deadlines, and hope you can get outside a little to enjoy the cooler weather and changing of the leaves.

Our chapter activities are in full swing as we kicked off the new fiscal year by celebrating and bringing back our installation dinner on May 23 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. It was a fantastic evening, filled with dinner, dancing and connecting with friends and colleagues. Thank you again to all our sponsors that night and to those who sponsor our chapter events all year long. Without your generosity and support, our committees would not be able to carry on all the great seminars and events for our members and community.

I want to welcome our new incoming officers for the 2023–2024 fiscal year: Vivian Jin, past president; Kristina Albarella, president-elect; Alyssa Popov, vice president; Nick Theos, treasurer; and Anthony Perrone, secretary, as well as our incoming executive board: Natalie Verbanac, Franco Martorana, Michael Katz, Ken Rick, Michael Holmstrom and Melissa Lehr. I am looking forward to working with all of you and having another successful year. I would also like to thank Immediate Past President Vivian Jin and the exiting board for their hard work and dedication to the chapter.

We just hosted our annual golf outing on Monday, Aug. 28 at the Windwatch Golf and Country Club in Hauppauge, and like last year, it was a great success.

Our various committees are also in the process of planning several other networking events, including our CPA Fest, Networking with Professionals night and the Women’s Focus Group networking event. Stay tuned for more details.

On Thursday, Sept. 21, our NextGen committee, along with the Suffolk Chapter, will be hosting their SuperSized Networking Event at the Piermont in Babylon.

On Wednesday, Oct. 25, our Financial Literacy Committee is hosting a seminar on Taxation of Corporations, Partnerships and Individuals at the Sweet Hollow Diner in Melville

On Friday, Nov. 10, our Accounting and Auditing committee, along with the Suffolk Chapter, will be hosting their Annual All-Day Accounting and Auditing Conference at the Radisson in Hauppauge. And on Thursday, Nov. 30, our Tax Committee, along with the Suffolk Chapter, will be hosting their Annual All-Day Tax Conference at the Melville Marriott in Melville.

Lastly, our CFO Committee is starting in-person meetings at Deloitte’s office in Jericho starting in October. Be on the lookout for email blasts, and check this web page for further details and registration links.

I hope to see many of you at our upcoming events and, as always, if you have any questions, comments or thoughts, please contact me at the email address below. I look forward to serving you as chapter president and in helping make this Chapter one of the best in the state.
