Mid Hudson Chapter makes its NextGen members a priority

By Valerie Imondi

Mid Hudson Chapter President

There is nothing better than being a part of something that matters!

Being a CPA is a lot of work, and it takes great fortitude to accomplish such a goal. The standards are high for us! Most have spent years obtaining an MBA or a master’s degree in our field, most have worked the grueling busy season hours, and most have made countless sacrifices needed to pass the CPA exam. One thing that all CPAs have in common is that we’ve reached the pinnacle of what we’ve set our minds to and can proudly call ourselves certified in the field. That is a great feeling!

Another great feeling is being a part of a community with people who have also achieved the same success and now wish to help others in their journey. The most important thing is to be a mentor and help the next group in line.

I just recently became president of the Mid Hudson chapter. I have been on this amazing board for almost five years and have served many positions leading to presidency. This is such a great organization, filled with people who are knowledgeable, supporting and professional, and I am eager to see what this year brings for us. We are all committed to the success of our chapter as well as ensuring that NextGen members are involved in our future.

NextGen members hold a very special place in our hearts, and we make it a priority to include them in our activities. We visit the local high schools and colleges in the area to discuss accounting with the students and answer any questions they have about the industry. Many of us mentor the graduates who are about to enter the workforce. We also give them a platform to talk among each other and network.

COVID-19 hit our chapter hard, as it did many chapters, and we sadly had to pause a lot of what makes our chapter special. This year, our goal as a chapter is unified and simple—we want to get back on track and start getting involved in the things we all truly enjoy.

I look forward to this upcoming year and cannot wait to see all we accomplish this year!

The Mid-Hudson Region is located north of New York City and south of Albany along the picturesque Hudson River, and includes Ulster, Dutchess, Sullivan, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester counties. It is a mix of urban areas, waterfront cities, rural villages, farmlands and forests.

The region is located in the epicenter of the Boston-Washington Corridor. More than thirty colleges and universities are located within the Mid-Hudson region.

Businesses chose the Mid-Hudson for its educated workforce, proximity to marketplace and access to water. The Hudson Valley, with some of the world’s largest, most sophisticated technology and manufacturing companies – as well as Healthcare and Social Assistance and Retail Trade – is a great place to do business.

The presiding President of the Mid Hudson Chapter is Valerie Imondi.
Chartered April 1, 1955, this chapter encompasses the following counties:
Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Sullivan, Ulster
