New York State Society of CPAs Elects 2022–2023 Board of Directors 

 

NEW YORK – (June 16, 2022) – The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) is pleased to announce their new Board of Directors—a 39-member governing body—which includes the positions of president, president-elect, vice presidents, secretary/treasurer, directors-at-large and directors as chapter representatives, who all began their terms of office on June 1. 

The Society’s elected officers are:  

Lynne M. Fuentes, President: Fuentes is the managing partner at Fuentes & Angel, CPAs, LLC, in Jericho, N.Y. Having earned her B.B.A. in accounting at Hofstra University, Fuentes frequently volunteers at her alma mater, Holy Trinity High School, for their annual career night, providing the students with information and guidance on careers in accounting. She joined the Society in 2004. 

Liren Wei, President-elect: Wei is the managing partner at Wei, Wei & Co., LLP, in Flushing, N.Y. He graduated from Baruch College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Wei is a member of the Accounting and Auditing, SEC, and Quality Control and Peer Review committees at the NYSSCPA. He joined the Society in 1994. 

Timothy J. Hamond, Secretary/Treasurer: Hammond is a principal at The Bonadio Group in Syracuse, N.Y. He received his B.S. in accounting and economics, and his M.B.A. in business administration from Le Moyne College in Syracuse. Hammond is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and a member of the Finance Committee for Nascentia Health. He joined the Society in 2010.  

Vice Presidents, to hold office for one year:

  • Orumé A. Hays, Vice President: Hays is the founder and managing director of Hays CPA LLC in New York, N.Y. She earned her B.S. in accounting and finance from CUNY College of Staten Island, a B.S. in sociology and anthropology from the University of Benin (UNIBEN) in Nigeria, and an M.S. in taxation from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. Hays is also an adjunct lecturer at CUNY Staten Island. She joined the Society in 2007.  

  • William C. Huether, Vice President: Huether is a principal at Sheehan & Company CPA PC in Brightwaters, N.Y. He received his associate’s degree in business administration from Briarcliffe College, and his B.B.A in accounting and his M.B.A. in corporate finance from Dowling College. Huether received an Emerging Leader Under 40 Award in 2021 presented by the NYSSCPA. He has been a member of the Society since 2010.  

  • Alexander Resnick, Vice President: Resnick is a partner at Wild, Maney & Resnick, LLP, in Woodbury, New York. He earned his B.A. in economics from the University at Albany and his M.S. in accounting from Long Island University (LIU) C.W. Post Campus. Resnick served as the president of the Long Island Network of Accountants, and as a member and treasurer of the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s Metro New York Chapter. He joined the Society in 1996.  

  • Barbara A. Marino, Vice President: Marino is a director at the Hackett Group in New York, N.Y. She received her undergraduate degree in accounting from Long Island University (LIU) C.W. Post Campus. Marino is a current member of the Manhattan/Bronx Chapter Promoting CPA Careers and Scholarships committees. She joined the Society in 1992. 

  • Steven M. Morse, Vice President: Morse is a principal at The Bonadio Group in Rochester, N.Y. He is a regular accounting correspondent on WROC, an ABC affiliate station. He earned his B.S. from Saunders College of Business at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Morse is a volunteer firefighter, a caregiver at a hospice, and a board member of the Rochester School for the Deaf. He joined the Society in 1991. 


Directors-at-Large, to hold office for three or four years:
 

  • Kevin Matz: Matz is a partner at ArentFox Schiff LLP, in New York, N.Y. He graduated with a B.S. from CUNY’s Herbert H. Lehman College, and a J.D. and an LL.M. from Fordham University School of Law. Matz is a frequent author and lecturer on estate and tax planning topics, and is co-author of the estate planning treatises, Manning on Estate Planning and Estate Planning for Professionals: Understanding What Is Needed for Estates of Any Size. He joined the Society in 1993. 

  • Mark L. Farber: Farber is the sole practitioner at Mark L. Farber CPA PC, in New York, N.Y. He received a B.S. in economics and accounting from CUNY’s Queens College, and an M.B.A. in taxation and finance from Baruch College. Farber’s firm operates as a boutique international tax firm with the ability to function as a global organization. Farber has been a member of the Society since 1986. 

  • William F. Schwenk: Schwenk is an audit and assurance partner at Deloitte in New York, N.Y. He regularly interacts with board members, senior executives, risk officers and regulators, and has lead large multinational audits. Schwenk holds a B.S. and M.S. in accounting from James Madison University. He has been a member of the Society since 2010. 

  • John M. Spatola: Spatola is the director of emerging business, business valuation, forensic accounting and dispute resolution services at Nawrocki Smith LLP in Hauppauge, N.Y. He is also a forensic and investigative adjunct professor at Saint Joseph’s College. He earned his B.A. in business administration from Stony Brook University (SUNY). He joined the Society in 2010. 

  • Michael R. Durant: Durant is a senior tax accountant at Prager Metis CPAs, LLC in New York, N.Y. He holds a B.B.A. in accountancy and an M.S. in taxation from CUNY’s Baruch College. Durant is currently studying for his J.D. at the City University of New York School of Law. He is a past co-chair of the advisory board for the Bronx School of Law and Finance. Durant joined the Society in 2011. 

Directors as Chapter Representatives (representing one of the Society’s 15 Chapters), to hold office for three or four years:    

  • Stephanie A. Gigliotti – Mid Hudson Chapter: Gigliotti is an audit partner at Prager Metis CPAs, LLC in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. She specializes in audits of employee benefits plans and has extensive experience working with defined benefit, defined contribution and 403(b) plans. She graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in accounting from the Pace University. Gigliotti has been a member of the Society since 2005. 

  • Mark M. Ulrich – Queens/Brooklyn Chapter: Ulrich is an assistant professor at CUNY Queensborough Community College in Bayside, N.Y. He is also an adjunct assistant professor at St. John’s University. Ulrich earned his B.S. and M.B.A. in accounting from St. John’s University’s College of Business. He joined the Society in 2007.  

  • William D. Ryan III – Utica Chapter: Ryan is a CPA at Fitzgerald, DePietro & Wojnas CPAs, P.C. in Utica, N.Y. He has served in several leadership positions in the NYSSCPA’s Utica Chapter, including as Chapter President, President-elect, and Treasurer. Ryan joined the Society in 2014.  

  • Lenore C. Sanchez – Rockland Chapter: Sanchez is a manager at PKF O’Connor Davies, LLP in Woodcliff Lake, N.J. She earned her B.S. in accounting from the Dominican College of Blauvelt. She is a current member of the Accounting and Review Services Committee and a current member of the Governance Subcommittee. Sanchez joined the Society in 2016.
