New York CPA Society Elects 2020–2021 Board of Directors

NEW YORK  – (June 16, 2020) – The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) is pleased to announce their new Board of Directors—a 39-member governing body—which includes the positions of president, president-elect, vice presidents, secretary/treasurer, directors as chapter representatives and directors-at-large, who all began their terms of office on June 1.

The Society’s elected officers are:

Edward L. Arcara, President: Arcara is the managing director of Edward L. Arcara, CPA P.C., a certified public accounting firm with three offices in Western New York and its headquarters in Buffalo, New York. Arcara received a B.S. in accounting from Canisius College, and is a board member on two not-for-profit organizations, in addition to serving as the president of a foundation located in Western New York. He joined the Society in 1986.

Rumbi Bwerinofa-Petrozzello, President-elect: Bwerinofa-Petrozzello serves as the principal for Rock Forensics, LLC, in Arverne, New York. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts with a degree in economics and mathematics, before studying accounting at the University of South Africa. Bwerinofa-Petrozzello is also the editor of Figuring Financial Forensics, where she discusses news and her views on the world of financial forensics. She joined the Society in 2012.

Thomas S. Pirro, Secretary/Treasurer: Pirro is the sole practitioner at Thomas S. Pirro, CPA PC, in East Setauket, New York. Pirro graduated from Manhattan College, and has served on the Society Board previously as chapter representative for the Suffolk Chapter. He joined the Society in 1988.

Vice Presidents, to hold office for one year:

  • William H. Dresnack, Vice President: Dresnack is the Chair of the Department of Finance and Accounting at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. He graduated with an A.S. in accounting from Nassau Community College, a B.S. in management from Long Island University (LIU) Post an M.S. in accounting from Binghamton University, and a J.D. from the University of Buffalo. Dresnack has been a member of the Society since 1987
  • Lynne M. Fuentes, Vice President: Fuentes is the managing partner at Fuentes & Angel, CPAs, LLC, in Nassau County, New York. Having earned her B.B.A. in accounting from Hofstra University, Fuentes frequently volunteers at her alma mater, Holy Trinity High School’s annual career night, providing the students with information and guidance on careers in accounting. She joined the Society in 2004.
  • Timothy J. Hammond, Vice President: Hammond is the principal at The Bonadio Group in Syracuse, New York. He received his B.S. in accounting and economics, and his M.B.A. in business administration from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York. Hammond is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and a former member of the board of directors for Nascentia Health. He joined the Society in 2010.
  • Robert M. Rollmann, Vice President: Rollmann is a partner of PKF O’Connor Davies, LLP, in Harrison, New York, and graduated from Pace University with a B.B.A. in accounting. Rollmann volunteers with Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and is a board member of the General Theological Seminary. He joined the Society in 1983.

Directors-at-Large, to hold office for three years:

  • Christopher G. Cahill: Cahill is a partner at Deloitte & Touche, LLP, in New York, New York. He earned his B.S. in accounting from St. John’s University and an M.B.A. in finance from Baruch College. Cahill served on St. John’s University’s Department of Accounting and Taxation’s Executive Advisory Board. He joined the Society in 1991.
  • Orumé A. Hays: Hays is the founder and managing director of Hays CPA in New York, New York. She earned her B.S. in accounting and finance from CUNY College of Staten Island, a B.S. in sociology and anthropology from the University of Benin (UNIBEN) in Nigera, and an M.S. in taxation from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Hays is also an adjunct lecturer at CUNY Staten Island. She joined the Society in 2007.
  • Edward N. Lee: Lee is a partner at KPMG, LLP, in Melville, New York. He received his B.S. in accounting from Long Island University (LIU) Post. Previously, Lee served as the controller for Hofstra University in Nassau County, New York. He has been a member of the Society since 1998.
  • Philip J. London: London is the partner emeritus at Wiss & Company, LLP, in New York, New York. He earned his B.A. in sociology and accounting from Long Island University (LIU) Post, and his M.B.A. in accounting and tax from St. John’s University. London also serves as the assistant treasurer and director of Eleven Riverside Drive Corp., a 644-unit residential cooperative apartment building in Manhattan. He joined the Society in 2002.
  • Denise M. Stefano: Stefano is the Accounting Department chairperson and associate professor at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York, and holds an M.B.A. in finance from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York. Stefano is the author and co-author of comprehensive courses published by Loscalzo Associates. She also serves as the treasurer of Malaria No More, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to prevent the spread of malaria throughout Africa. She joined the Society in 1998.

Director-at-Large, to hold office for one year:

  • Kevin Matz: Matz is a partner at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, in New York, New York. He graduated with a B.S. from Herbert H. Lehman College of the City University of New York, and a J.D. and an LL.M. from Fordham University School of Law. Matz is a frequent author and lecturer on estate and tax planning topics, and is co-author of the estate planning treatises, Manning on Estate Planning and Estate Planning for Professionals: Understanding What Is Needed for Estates of Any Size. He joined the Society in 1993.

Directors as Chapter Representatives (representing one of the Society’s 15 Chapters), to hold office for three years:   

  • John B. Huttlinger, Jr., Director as Chapter Representative – Adirondack Chapter: Huttlinger is the president of the Adirondack Audit Company, Inc., in Saranac Lake, New York. He received his bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University and an M.B.A. from Rutgers University. Huttlinger co-founded the Adirondack Film Society in 2000 and has received regional and national acclaim. He joined the Society in 1992.
  • Alexander Resnick, Director as Chapter Representative – Nassau Chapter: Resnick is a partner at Wild, Maney & Resnick, LLP, in Woodbury, New York. He earned his B.A. in economics from the University at Albany and his M.S. in accounting from Long Island University (LIU) Post. Resnick served as the president of the Long Island Network of Accountant, and as a member and treasurer of the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s Metro New York Chapter. He joined the Society in 1996.
  • John A. Mourer, Director as Chapter Representative – Rochester Chapter: Mourer is the owner of John A. Mourer, CPA, CGMA, in Rochester, New York. He received his A.A.S. in business administration from Finger Lakes Community College, and his B.S. in accounting and management from St. John Fisher College. Mourer volunteers as a Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 332. He joined the Society in 2005.
  • Sharon Sica-Costanzo, Director as Chapter Representative – Staten Island Chapter: Sica-Costanzo is the owner of SSC Accounting & Tax in New York, New York. She received her degree in accounting from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. Sica-Costanzo joined the Society in 2009.
  • William C. Huether, Director as Chapter Representative – Suffolk Chapter: Huether is a manager at Sheenhan & Company, CPA, P.C., in Brightwaters, New York. He earned his associate’s degree in business administration from Briarcliffe College, and his B.B.A. in accounting and M.B.A. in corporate finance from Dowling College. Huether joined the Society in 2010.

 Director as Chapter Representative, to hold office for one year:

  • Craig A. Zellar, Director as Chapter Representative – Syracuse Chapter: Zellar is the audit principal at Firley, Moran, Freer & Eassa, CPA, P.C., in Syracuse, New York. He holds a B.S. in accounting from SUNY Oswego. Zellar is the treasurer and member of the board of directors of the Samaritan Center; is a church youth group adviser; and is the assistant scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 750 in Phoenix, New York. He joined the Society in 1998.
