September 2002 Disciplinary matters Ralph J. Genovese of Niagara Falls, N.Y., was expelled from membership in the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA) and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), effective April 4, 2002. Genovese failed to comply with a letter of required corrective action issued jointly by the two organizations directing him to complete specified continuing professional education courses and to hire an outside party to perform a pre-issuance review on all attest engagements performed during a specified period of time. Genovese entered into a nonnegotiable settlement agreement calling for his expulsion from both organizations. Charles T. Young of Union, N.J., was expelled from the NYSSCPA and AICPA, effective July 18, 2002. Young was found guilty by the Joint Trial Board of failing to cooperate in an investigation of his professional conduct. |
