IRS Announces New Random Audit Program

NEW YORK—The IRS has announced plans for a new National Research Program (NRP) that will allow more accurate reporting and even aid in the reduction of the national tax gap. In a June 6 press release, the IRS said that this NRP study is the first in what will be several annual studies using an “innovative multi-year rolling technology.” Continue...

Society Appoints First-Ever Public Member to Ethics Committee

The NYSSCPA’s Professional Ethics Committee (PEC) has officially welcomed former New York State comptroller and past Baruch College president Edward “Ned” Regan into its ranks. Regan’s addition to the committee roster is part of an effort to comply with the recommendations set forth in the Quality Enhancement Policy Committee’s (QEPC) white paper on ethics.
