Each year in July, CPAs leave their offices for an hour or two to view the latest products designed to improve their businesses at the New York CPA, Business and Technology Show & Conference, being held July 17 and 18 at the New York Hilton Hotel. Other attendees come to network with their peers, or take CPE courses.

WASHINGTON—After the free-market advocacy nonprofit group the Free Enterprise Fund (FEF) hit the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) with a lawsuit in February claiming that government entity was unconstitutional, the Board is striking back and is moving to dismiss the suit.

In an effort to lighten the reporting load of corporations and their shareholders, the IRS announced at the end of May that it would “review a number of regulations” in order to “simplify, clarify and eliminate” a series “of reporting requirements that unnecessarily added to the reporting burden” upon those entities.
