—Recent debate over the future of Social Security has
largely focused on President George W. Bush’s plan to
create private accounts.
But, in
a presentation to financial journalists, members of the New
York State Society of CPAs have set out to shift focus away
from the emotions Bush’s plan has stirred on either side
of the issue to a more fundamental understanding of the program
and alternative solutions to its problems.
