| State Board Approves Changes to Education Requirements |

By Alan Schmelkin, Director of Operations NEW YORK—The New York State Board for Public Accountancy recently approved changes to state regulations governing the education required by candidates entering the CPA profession. At a meeting held by conference call on Jan. 17, the Preparation/Education Committee of the State Board met to discuss amendments to the state’s education regulations. Following the committee’s unanimous support, the amendments were brought before the full State Board for discussion and approval. |

George Pataki’s final 2006–2007 budget proposal came
in at $110.6 billion this year, increasing overall spending by 4.1
