More Improprieties Found in School Audits

Good Luck for the New Year

Members of the New York State Society of CPAs also attended the event, held at the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel in Flushing, N.Y. During New Year celebrations, people place red envelopes filled with money inside a figurative dragon’s mouth for good luck. Because the holiday is based on the lunar calendar, Chinese New Year celebrations begin on a different day each year, typically from late January to mid-February.

New York—Continuing investigations of a firm specializing in school audits have uncovered improprieties at a second Long Island school district.

An audit of work performed by firm Miller, Lilly and Pearce revealed “a continued pattern of substandard work and numerous violations of professional standards” in the firm’s dealings with the Manhasset School District, according to a Feb. 22 report released by New York State Comptroller Alan Hevesi.
