Equivalency, Experience Top Agenda at State Board Meeting

NEW YORK—Substantial equivalency and professional experience requirements for licensure were the two main areas of discussion at the Jan. 24 meeting of the New York State Board for Public Accountancy in Manhattan. The Board also discussed the new diagnostic testing reports related to the uniform CPA examination and welcomed new five-year-term board members David DeSilva, of Dermody Burke & Brown, and Henry Krostich, of Krostich & Krostich LLP.

FAE Nonprofit Conference Draws Big Turnout

NEW YORK—More than 400 conference-goers attended the Foundation for Accounting Education’s 29th Annual Nonprofit Conference, held Jan. 17 at the New York Marriott Marquis Times Square in Manhattan. The conference, which featured sessions on auditing and legal updates, among others, also was held the prior week at the RIT Inn and Conference Center in Henrietta, N.Y., to make it accessible to upstate members. In total, the two conferences pulled in more than 600 attendees.Continue...

NYSSCPA Board Seeks FAE Trustee Candidates

Each year, the terms of three Foundation for Accounting Education Trustees end, and the NYSSCPA Board seeks members interested in serving on the FAE Board. Beginning in 2005, the Society’s Board of Directors began submitting six names to fill the three FAE Board of Trustees vacancies. Before 2005, the trustees filled their own vacancies. The Society’s Board needs to hear from members interested in serving on the FAE Board before March 15.
