Nominating Committee Poses Slate of 2004–2005 Officers Elections to Be Held May 13 By David Cho, NYSSCPA Assistant Counsel Continued from the Home Page The nominations for NYSSCPA officers include Stephen F. Langowski for president-elect; Peter L. Berlant, Katharine K. Doran and Andrew M. Eassa for vice presidents; Raymond M. Nowicki for secretary (first year), and Arthur Bloom for treasurer (second year). This is the first year, under bylaws approved in 2003, that the Society will operate with three (rather than four) vice presidents. Nominees named to fill open positions on the NYSSCPA Board of Directors are Phillip E. Goldstein, Don A. Kiamie, Howard B. Lorch, C. Daniel Stubbs Jr. and Edward J. Torres as directors-at-large. Each new board member, if elected, will serve a three-year term. Nominees for directors representing various chapters, also with three-year terms, include Deborah L. Bailey-Browne (Mid-Hudson Chapter), Anthony G. Duffy (Northeast Chapter), Thomas P. Casey (Queens Chapter), David Evangelista (Rockland Chapter) and John J. Lauchert Jr. (Utica Chapter). The officers and directors for the 2004–2005 term will be elected during the 107th Annual Election Meeting and Dinner on May 13 at the Marriot Marquis in Manhattan. Additional details on the event will be included in the March 15 issue of The Trusted Professional. The Nominating Committee’s official report, including a proxy ballot and detailed information on each nominee, will also be featured in the March 15 issue and on the Society’s website at www.nysscpa.org. According to Article X of the Society’s bylaws, independent nominations for an officer or elected director may be made by petition filed with the secretary by March 20. While recent bylaw changes approved in July 2003 will move the date for future nominations, the old bylaw date of March 20 is still applicable for the present list of nominees. Any petition requires at least 100 signatures of CPA members, other than that of the nominee, and must certify that the nominee has consented to serve if elected. |
