Nominating Committee Proposes New Society OfficersBy Jay DismukesNEW YORKThe New York State Society of CPAs Nominating Committee, chaired by Robert L. Israeloff, has announced the nominees for Society officers and incoming board members for the 2002-2003 term, beginning June 1. The nominations include: Jeffrey R. Hoops for president-elect; Stephen F. Langowski, Ian M. Nelson, Carol C. Lapidus and Laurence Keiser for vice presidents; Thomas E. Riley for secretary; and Frank J. Aquilino for treasurer. To fill open positions on the Societys board of directors, the nominees include: Spencer L. Barback, Michael G. Baritot, Joseph Schlegel, Robert E. Sohr and Neville Grusd as directors-at-large (three-year term) and Andrew Cohen (Nassau); David W. Henion (Rochester); Robert S. Peare (Suffolk); Walter Daszkowski (Staten Island); Barbara S. Dwyer (Adirondack, three-year term); Philip Wolitzer (Brooklyn, three-year term) Nancy A. Kirby (Central Southern Tier, one-year term); William Aiken (Manhattan/Bronx, one-year term); Robert A. Sypolt (Queens, two-year term); and David Evangelista (Rockland, two-year term) as chapter representatives. The officers and directors for the 2002-2003 term will be elected during the 105th Annual Election Meeting and Dinner on May 9. Additional details on the event will be included in the March issue of The Trusted Professional. The Nominating Committees official report, including detailed information on each nominee and a proxy ballot, will be featured in the March Trusted Professional and on the Societys website at www.nysscpa.org. According to Article X of the Societys bylaws, independent nominations for an officer or elected director may be made by petition filed with the secretary by March 20. The petition requires at least 100 signatures, other than the nominee, and must certify that the nominee has consented to serve if elected. |
