Recruit Associate Members, Earn Prizes

By Frank Pagani

The NYSSCPA will reward current members who recruit associate members in the five new categories--international, CPA firm employee, academic, student, and candidate--with prizes from Society affinity partners. Prizes include free enrollment in Eye Care International, subscriptions to Business Week, and Airborne Express shipments.

Members who successfully recruit one new associate have a choice of either a one-year enrollment in Eye Care International (a $28 value), two Airborne Express flight ready letters that can hold up to two pounds each (a $20.50 value), or two Airborne Express packs that can hold up to five pounds each (a $28 value).

If members recruit two associate members, they may choose either two prizes from the list above or a one-year subscription (51 weekly issues) to Business Week, valued at the member discount rate of $37.95.

For helping three associate members join the Society, members receive two of the following prizes: one-year enrollment in Eye Care International, three Airborne Express letters, three Airborne Express packs, or a one-year subscription to Business Week.

Recruiting four associate members yields two of the following prizes: one-year enrollment in Eye Care International, four Airborne Express letters, four Airborne Express packs, or a two-year subscription to Business Week, valued at the member discount rate of $59.95.

Members who recruit five or more associates may choose two of the following prizes: annual enrollment in Eye Care International, five Airborne Express letters, five Airborne Express packs, or a three-year subscription to Business Week, valued at the special member discount rate of $82.95.

Prospective new associate members include non-CPA colleagues at firms, especially those in the tax and consulting areas, who qualify for the non-CPA firm employee category. The larger CPA firms and leading financial services companies also employ chartered accountants and CPAs licensed outside the United States, who qualify for international associate membership. Chartered accountants often also work for Canadian companies located in New York state, especially near the Canadian border.

Members in education can recruit their non-CPA colleagues (i.e., tax and accounting professors) who qualify for the academic associate category. These same members also can be a resource for identifying accounting students, who qualify for student associate membership.

Almost any Society member can help identify individuals in public practice or industry who are college graduates seeking to pass the CPA exam. These prospective NYSSCPA associate members qualify for the CPA candidate category.

To request an associate member nomination form, contact Kiesha Mills at (212) 719-8392, (800) 633-6320, or kymills@nysscpa.org. The NYSSCPA will send applications to the prospective members and current members will receive their prizes when their nominees join the Society. *
