NEW YORK—At its Nov. 16 meeting, the New York State Board for Public Accountancy heard presentations on and discussed some of the most pressing issues currently facing the accounting profession, including peer review reform, computer-based testing (CBT) of prospective CPAs and the relevancy of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Section 404 preparation to meet experience requirements.

FASB To Study Pension Reporting

NEW YORK—The Financial Accounting Standards Board on Nov. 10 voted to add a project to its agenda to study pension and other postretirement accounting methods. FASB announced that the study project would reconsider guidance in Statement No. 87, Employers’ Accounting for Pensions, and Statement No. 106, Employers’ Accounting for Postretirement Benefits Other Than Pensions.
