Message From the President

By John Savash, Finger Lakes Chapter President

The Finger Lakes Chapter held two very successful events in the fall. On Oct. 23, the New York State Society of CPAs Officers Visitation and Ethics CPE supper was held at the Seneca Harbor Station Restaurant in Watkins Glen, N.Y. Thirty-eight people attended this event and listened to NYSSCPA Past President Jo Ann Golden present the ethics part of the program. Society President Jeffrey Hoops also presented an update on certain legislative issues that the state officers of the NYSSCPA have been discussing.

On Nov. 13, the Finger Lakes Chapter had a social event at First Arena in Elmira, N.Y. The Elmira Jackals hosted the Richmond Riverdogs in a United Hockey League game. The event started out with a pre-game food reception sponsored by Paychex, Inc. Twenty-eight people attended this event, and everyone seemed to have a good time watching the game.

Special thanks should go out to Peter Maier, our chapter treasurer and secretary, for organizing the ethics CPE event in October, and also to chapter Vice President Gary Riopko, for organizing the hockey game in November. They both did a wonderful job and helped to make the events successful.

As always, I am available for your comments and suggestions.
