Society’s Hall of Fame AwardBy Nereida GomezThe New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants established the CPA Hall of Fame award to honor exceptional certified public accountants for their work, vision and contributions to the profession and the larger community. Its goals are to promote the CPA designation, to reward selected individuals for their distinguished service and contribution to the profession, and to provide a venue for recognition of the personal and professional achievements of worthy individuals who have made a demonstrated impact on the profession. The Society inducted five outstanding CPAs into the first class of the Hall of Fame in May 2000. This included Max Block, Charles Waldo Haskins, Robert Montgomery, Emanuel Saxe and Elijah Watt Sells. The Society recognized these individuals at its Annual Election dinner meeting. The committee has initiated the selection process for the next inductees.To qualify, candidates must have:
Individuals may not nominate themselves. All nominations must be submitted on the standard nomination form, which can be found on the Society’s website at www.nysscpa.org.
