Tri-State Tax Conference Examines Recent Tax Developments
Sessions Discuss CT Compliance Program, NY Commuter Tax Repeal, Other Policy Issues
By Lori Pendleton
FAE's Tri-State Tax Conference, to take place January 13 at the New York Hilton Hotel and Towers in New York City, provides updates and insights into many of the tax trends and developments that have occurred in recent years.
"There have been more policy changes than law changes," said conference Chair Nicholas Nesi of BDO Seidman LLP. "Examples include Connecticut's managed compliance agreement affecting large businesses and New York state's repeal of the commuter tax, which is being contested for excluding commuters from other states."
This year's conference will highlight the effects that these and other recent developments have had on taxpayers in the tri-state Connecticut/New York/New Jersey area. It also will address new planning ideas that enable residents and businesses to minimize taxes.
"New Jersey Tax Commissioner Robert Thompson, Connecticut Commissioner Gene Gavin, and New York City Assistant Tax Commissioner Jonathan Robin will talk about the goings-on in their respective jurisdictions," Nesi said. "And the lunch speaker, former New York State Deputy Tax Commissioner Arthur Rosen, will give attendees tips on working in a multistate environment."
The conference fee is $250 for NYSSCPA members and $350 for nonmembers. POP Pass holders can attend this conference for free.
