PricewaterhouseCoopers Encourages Society Membership
By Frank Pagani
PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP employees learned about the benefits of NYSSCPA membership and the new associate member categories at a recruitment drive arranged by Carolyn McInnis DiGiammo, the firm's senior associate of business development in October. The Society distributed membership information to employees during lunch.
PricewaterhouseCoopers' Barry Doll, past chair of the NYSSCPA Membership Committee, and Society staff greeted more than 50 employees. The successful response encouraged the firm and the Society to stage recruitment drives on a regular basis. In addition, PricewaterhouseCoopers will undertake other activities with the Society to promote membership.
"We plan to run membership stories in our newsletter and invite the Society to participate in our orientation days," DiGiammo said.
The firm's efforts are part an initiative to work with Big Five firms to bring their combined Society membership up substantially. Currently, Big Five members account for about 8 percent of the Society's total membership. Another Society goal is to attract more firm members, especially those just beginning their careers, to serve on committees.
In addition to PricewaterhouseCoopers, the Society recently met with Robert J. Zibelli of KPMG LLP to arrange for recruitment activities at his firm. The other Big Five firms in the recruitment initiative are Arthur Andersen LLP, Ernst & Young LLP, and Deloitte & Touche LLP. *
