In this, the first of a monthly column about the Society’s website, we are proud to announce the launching of a newly redesigned Trusted Professional homepage.
The new site, www.nysscpa.org/trustedprof/main.htm, has replaced the old template, with its straight listing of stories, for a more classic design that mirrors the look and feel of the publication’s print version. The site is even accented with the color the paper used that month.
As part of the new design, the issue’s main story is now prominently displayed on the home page with a photo and, just like in the print version, continues on another page. Three to four other stories are also displayed on the home page, with each story’s first paragraph. Links to all remaining stories from the month are located on the left side under “What’s Inside.” All stories also feature links to e-mail the author, print the article or send the article to a friend.
In addition, the “Chapter Newsletters” section, which includes news and notes from the Society’s 17 chapters, including messages from chapter presidents, is now located in the bottom right of the main page.
Finally, a search box has been added to allow users to look for articles and information that have only been published in The Trusted Professional.
By the Numbers
All Society sites in September saw a record number of visits, eclipsing 150,000 (156,161) for a single month for the first time, and breaking April 2003’s mark. In addition, the sites also recorded the second 7,000-visit-day ever, with 7,038 visits on Wednesday, Sept. 17. This was the second-highest single-day total ever.
The sites also set new records for total unique visitors (117,669), which is one distinct visitor to a website, regardless of how many times they visit that website, and total new visitors (91,961), which is a visitor visiting the site for the first time. These two numbers broke the previous marks both set in April 2003.
In all, the sites recorded more than 6,000 visits on 14 days, and had an additional two days of more than 5,900 visits. The sites also eclipsed the 500,000 page view plateau, and recorded over 3.2 million hits.
