Society Website Adds Online News SourceBy Cori L. Gabbard The New York State Society of CPAs website recently launched a section that provides daily news coverage pertaining to the accounting profession. Located on the right-hand side of the Society’s homepage, NYSSCPA.ORG Newsbriefs offers CPAs a daily selection of news articles pertaining to the accounting field, covering such topics as information technology, taxation, business and finance, federal and state legislation, and the 2000 presidential and Senate elections. NYSSCPA Website Manager Kyle Booth said that the objective behind the Newsbriefs section was to make accessing information online more convenient for members. “Considering the daily workload of a CPA, it can be a time-consuming process to search through four or five different news sources every morning,” Booth said. “With the Newsbriefs section, we are trying to cut down on the amount of time our members would have to spend looking for news by putting it all in one place for them.” Newsbriefs also includes Society news and announcements. “For those members that visit the website to find out about committee, chapter, and Society news and events, Newsbriefs could make NYSSCPA.ORG a one-stop shop for all of their online accounting needs.” For more information about Newsbriefs, please contact Website Managing Editor Kyle Booth at (212) 719-8324, (800) NYSSCPA (697-7272), or kbooth@nysscpa.org. |
