November 2000
Nominating Committee Finalized at Annual LuncheonBy James A. Woehlke, CPA The members of the New York State Society of CPAs 2000–2001 nominating committee were finalized on Nov. 8 at the Society’s Annual Luncheon Meeting. Society President P. Gerard Sokolski presided over the meeting that picked the nine committee members. This year exactly seven at-large member petitions were received. The at-large nominating committee members include former Society presidents Norman W. Lipshie and George T. Foundotos. Other at-large committee members are Rosemarie Ann Barnickel, Charles H. Calhoun, Gerald H. Ranzal, Samuel B. Traum, and Maryann M. Winters. The committee also includes two board-designated members, Robert S. Cheskes and Stephen F. Langowski. To serve on the nominating committee as an at-large member, a person must have been a Society CPA member for at least five consecutive years and have served on Society committees for at least two years. In addition, at least ten other five-year CPA members must certify to the person’s qualifications. Current board members and members of the nominating committee for the past two years are ineligible to serve as at-large members. Article IX of the Society bylaws provides that, if more than seven petitions are received for the at-large committee members, a runoff election is held among the entire membership of the Society. If fewer than seven petitions are received, the board designates additional members who are not currently serving on the board to bring the total number up to nine. Society bylaws can be viewed online at www.nysscpa.org/society/bylaws.htm. |
