First, I want to wish all of you a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year. I hope you all enjoyed a safe and joyous holiday season.

Well, even a snowstorm couldn’t keep the Rockland members away from attending our activities during December. We were fortunate enough to have the Sterling National Bank sponsor a nice three-credit breakfast seminar in conjunction with members from the Rockland Bar Association on Thursday morning, Dec. 4. Renowned labor attorney Joel Greenwald gave a thoroughly enlightened presentation regarding overtime issues and legal strategies to protect against the loss of key personnel.

Once again, our active and vital Young CPAs Committee organized a holiday party and Toys for Tots fundraiser, at the La Terrazza restaurant in New City on Dec. 17. Kudos go to Anat Kuperman and Janet Toborg for all of the hard work put forth for this most worthwhile function.

Since our chapter will be hosting the state’s Young CPA Forum in July, we could use volunteers to help make it as successful as possible. Please contact me with your availability; I promise it will be a most rewarding experience.

In addition, now is the time to start thinking about every member’s involvement in the chapter next year. There were many new people attending and enjoying the various events throughout the year, and I hope some of you will consider a position either on the executive board or on a committee of your choosing.
