Many Hands Make Annual CPA Banker Dinner Huge Success The Northeast Chapter held its annual CPA Banker Dinner on Nov. 19 at the Wolferts Roost Country Club in Albany. Approximately 215 accounting and banking professionals gathered for presentations, cocktails and dinner. The Northeast Chapter would like to thank the Cooperation with Bankers Committee, spearheaded by Marty Hull from KPMG and Bob Lazar from the New York Business Development Corporation, for their timeless commitment to this event. Special thanks also go out to the persons behind the scenes who support Marty and Bob by attending to every detail, from preparing the mailings, to managing registration and arranging the seminar and dinner. Thanks to Marty’s team at KPMG (Jim McGrath, Heather Drislane and Rita Gaglio) and thanks to Bob’s team at NYBDC (Kelli Kudlack and Kathy Russom). Thanks also go to John Chiaramonte, from Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte, for his efforts in planning this year’s event. The event began with a two-hour informative presentation in which a diverse selection of seminar panelists discussed recently issued pronouncements, current FASB projects, SEC developments, tax updates and helpful ways to finance small businesses. After the presentations, guest speaker Albany Mayor Gerald D. Jennings discussed the many exciting changes that have occurred during his tenure as mayor, including the revitalization of downtown Albany, the planning for the arrival of a chip fabrication facility and improving the city’s tax base by growing business. Following his remarks, Mayor Jennings answered questions from the audience. In appreciation of the attendees’ participation, Northeast Chapter President Beth Van Bladel noted, “Your willingness to commit your valuable time to meet with each other is a testament to the strong bond between Capital Region CPAs and bankers. “I firmly believe that there are an infinite number of opportunities to be created when we join together and build long-lasting relationships.” Kelli Kudlack (from the New York Business Development Corporation) and Heather Drislane (from KPMG) contributed to this article. |
