Committee Offers Free CPE About CPA2Biz

By Bruce H. Nearon

Did you know you could earn one hour of CPE every month at no charge by attending the Emerging Technology Committee’s information technology presentations?

On Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at 9:30 a.m., David Rauch, a member of the Emerging Technology Committee, will present a one-hour informative session about CPA2Biz. CPA2Biz is a key initiative of the American Institute of CPAs, intended to level the playing field and allow practitioners to leverage the opportunities made available by the Internet and e-business technologies. But how much do you know about CPA2Biz? Is it right for your firm or clients? What does CPA2Biz have to offer for a small firm or sole practitioner? What are the pros and cons?

The Emerging Technology Committee initiated its program of free monthly CPE for NYSSCPA members in July 2001. Since then, attendance has been increasing with every session as Society members become aware of this valuable program. Attendees not only learn about current information technology issues, but also get to network with the profession’s information technology leaders and experts.

The session will be held at the Society’s headquarters at 530 Fifth Avenue, fifth floor, in New York City. Nonmembers will be charged $15 and seating is available on a first come/first served basis Those interested in attending should contact Gary Carpenter at gcarpenter-cit@worldnet.att.net or (315) 487-4567.

Bruce H. Nearon, CPA, is chairman of the NYSSCPA Emerging Technologies Committee and director of IT security audit for J.H. Cohn, LLP, in Roseland, N.J.
