their Sept. 14 meeting, the trustees of the Foundation for Accounting
Education discussed and took action on several key issues, including
the extension of and changes to the Pay One Price (POP) program
for volume CPE purchases and expansion of the Foundation’s

Teaches Hard Lessons on Disaster Recovery |

New York—If
there’s one thing the accounting profession can take away
from the widespread destruction of Katrina, it’s that you
can’t be too careful when it comes to client data redundancy.
Many accountants, architects, medical professionals and lawyers,
among others, in the Gulf Coast were scrambling to recover the tons
of paper files and gigabytes of computer data destroyed in America’s
worst-ever natural disaster.

The Foundation
for Accounting Education’s mission is to facilitate the acquisition
of knowledge and skill by providing members of the Society with
cost-effective, high-quality, market-driven educational services,
and that’s something that FAE does very well. But before we
get caught up patting ourselves on the back, we need to ask an important
question: Is FAE all that it can be?
