October 2002 POP Program Is Back for 2002-2003 Early Bird Discount to Run Through Nov. 30 By Alan Schmelkin, Director of the Foundation for Accounting Education The Foundation for Accounting Education (FAE) Board of Trustees again approved the popular discounted pricing plan for continuing professional education (CPE) events, Pay-One-Price (POP) Pass, for another year. The board restored the POP program in September 2001, after a one-year experiment with the more restrictive VIP Pass discount program. New York State Society of CPAs members responded positively; POP sales for the CPE year ending Aug. 31, 2002, were almost double that of the year before under the VIP program. POP passes come in three varieties: individual member pass, individual nonmember pass and firm pass. Each pass booklet contains 10 coupons valid for full-day, eight-hour FAE seminars and conferences. Due to the higher program costs associated with conferences, there is still a $50 add-on for using a POP ticket at conferences, after the user’s first conference. There will be no price increase for the 2002-2003 POP Pass. A booklet of 10 passes will still cost $1,195 for members and $1,695 for nonmembers and firms. However, FAE is offering an “early-bird” special that knocks $100 off the member, nonmember and firm passes if purchased by Nov. 30. As with the prices, all other POP usage guidelines remain the same. For more details about the POP program, visit www.nysscpa.org, or look for the special POP flyer that will be mailed to all members. |
