Society Accepts AMEX Payments

By Chris Reeves

Paying for continuing professional education and other New York State Society of CPAs services just became much more convenient: The NYSSCPA and Foundation for Accounting Education now accept American Express for almost any payment.

“The Society will accept American Express for course registrations, peer review payments, CPA Journal subscriptions—just about any payment a member might make to FAE or the NYSSCPA,” said Society Finance Director Lynn Chambers. Membership dues must be paid by personal check.

Key to the Society’s decision to accept American Express was the fact that many employers that pay for their employees’ CPE use American Express as their company card. These employees can now pay for CPE directly with the company card rather than paying by personal credit card or check and waiting for reimbursement.

In the past a high discount rate prevented the Society from accepting the card; however, a good rate has now been negotiated because of the Society’s high charge card volume.
