Young CPAs Recent Happenings
By Mark Koziel
The Buffalo Young CPAs were a hit at this year’s Winefest on August 26. The event had about 2,000 attendees and the Young CPAs were there in full force, working the wine tents, registration, and beer and pop tents and performing various other duties.
Many thanks to all of our volunteers for being exceptional representatives of our chapter. Our goal was to have 80 volunteers for the day and we had 81!
I do have to give special recognition to four volunteers that worked the beer tent from 4 to 7 p.m.
Trish Chapin, Kelly Herold, Lisa Schieber, and Cheryl Wellman were such great bartenders that they collected $53 in tips! (Donated to charity, of course). They worked the crowd, had fun, and raised additional money for the Niagara Frontier Vocational Rehab Center, the charity benefiting from the event.
Pictures and the final volunteer list are located in this month’s newsletter, so be sure to check it out.
The Young CPAs Committee has been busy planning other events. We are exploring the possibility of wrapping gifts for charity at one of the local malls during the holiday season. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
We are also moving forward on a project that we’ve kicked around for several months. We will be hosting the first annual Young CPAs Forum here in Buffalo on July 12 and 13, 2001. The 16-hour event will include such topics as presentations, business writing, performance evaluations, recruiting, team building, and managing stress—just to name a few. We are very excited about this event and have had very positive feedback from across the state.
The forum will not be limited to just the Young CPAs. We will not be verifying age at the door so all CPAs are welcome.
