CFO Conference Focuses on Solutions

By Calvin Wilson

The top pitfalls that chief financial officers should seek to avoid were discussed at the annual conference of the New York State Society of CPA’s Chief Financial Officers Committee.

Speakers from a diversity of industries covered the business pitfalls. Areas of interest included financial reporting, insurance, emerging technologies, and retirement program designs.

“The conference was an amalgamation of relevant topics so Chief Financial Officers could gain insights from experts in their respective disciplines,” said Kenneth Bailey, conference and CFO committee chairman.

The conference was widely lauded as informative, educational with excellent speakers.

In October, the Committee offered CFOs advice on how to manage retirement plans. The Committee hosted a presentation by certified financial planner and life underwriter Michael T. Dwyer III on Oct. 12 entitled, “Designing A Written Policy Statement In Order To Effectively Administer and Manage Your Company’s Qualified Retirement Plan.”
