Disciplinary Matters

G. William Hatfield of Oneida, N.Y., was automatically expelled from New York State Society of CPAs membership. On July 3, 2003, in U.S. District Court, Northern District of New York (Syracuse), Mr. Hatfield entered a plea of guilty to aiding and assisting in and procuring, counseling and advising the preparation and presentation of a document to the Internal Revenue Service that was fraudulent and false as to material matters, a felony (26 USC 7206 Fraud and False Statements).

Edward M. Lieber of Merrick, N.Y., was automatically expelled from NYSSCPA membership effective July 29, 2003. On March 10, 2000, in United States Southern District of New York Court, Mr. Lieber was convicted of the crime of false statements with respect to loan applications, a felony in violation of 18 U.S.C. Sections 1014.
