NYS Bar Committee Says Lawyer - Controlled MDP's Are OK

In a move that opens the door for combining firms practicing in differing disciplines, the New York State Bar Association’s House of Delegates approved a 400-page recommendation that calls for multidisciplinary practices (MDPs) in late June. (Article)

IRS Relations Committee Meets at Brookhaven Service Center

The NYSSCPA Relations with the IRS Committee held its annual outing to the IRS Brookhaven Service Center on August 17. Unlike prior years, the meeting followed an open format that included an extensive question-and-answer period that facilitated a free flow of information. (Article)

Final SSARS 1 Amendments Near Vote

The AICPA’s Accounting and Review Services Committee (ARSC) considered the NYSSCPA’s comments in revising its proposed amendments to Statement on Standards for Accounting and Review Services 1 (SSARS 1) at its July meeting. (Article)

Litigation Services Committee Conducts Cyberfraud Conference

On July 13, the Cyberfraud Conference illustrated why CPAs from every practice niche must keep abreast of developments in the area of high-technology fraud. The conference, organized under the auspices of Litigation Services Committee Chair Basil Imburgia and Fraud Subcommittee Chair Gary Arrick, presented in a clear and informative manner cyberfraud issues of varying complexity relevant to the accounting profession. Fae Trustees to Evaluate POP Program

Several years ago, the Foundation for Accounting Education (FAE) developed the Pay One Price (POP) program, not only as a cost-saving benefit for members, but also to encourage them to view CPE as a reemphasis on the profession's commitment to lifelong learning as opposed to merely a certain number of credits that must be completed in order to satisfy a mandatory requirement. More Than 100 Complete COAP Summer Residency
