Co-op and Condo Update: August 19

The Real Estate Committee of the New York State Society of CPAs presents an evening technical session on cooperative (co-op) and condominium apartments on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, in New York City. A panel of renowned industry experts will engage in a discussion of accounting, auditing and tax developments related to common interest realty associations.

Speakers include Michael A. Esposito, Abe Kleiman, Joel E. Miller and Victor J. Mizzaro.

Esposito is the audit partner at Kleiman & Weinshank, LLP, and has over 15 years of experience in the real estate industry, including representing co-ops and condos, residential and commercial rental properties, and various real estate entities.

Kleiman is a managing partner at Kleiman & Weinshank, LLP, and has advised co-op and condos in all areas, including audit, tax, financial workouts, internal control, accounting systems, annual and long-term budgeting and accumulating and investing reserves.

Miller is an attorney with Miller Tabak Roberts Securities, LLC, who has practiced in the field of cooperatives and condominium law and taxation for over 35 years. He has authored various publications, including the BNA tax management portfolio “Cooperative and Condominium Apartments,” American Institute of CPAs’ self- and group study courses (co-authored), and written numerous articles for law reviews and other publications.

Mizzaro is a manager with Weisbarth Altman Michaelson & Slavet LLP and has experience in accounting, taxation, consulting and management services for small to medium-sized companies with regard to managing agents, cooperative housing, condominiums, and commercial and residential complexes.

The evening technical session will be held at the Society headquarters, located at 530 Fifth Ave., fifth floor, New York City, from 6:00 p.m to 8:30 p.m. Member fee: $45; nonmember fee: $50.
